Subs not underwater

Description
Since spring 95, whether unit is underwater is calculated from midY+radius. Because of this many subs are actually not considered uw.
Best way to fix is with dyncv gadget, not with alterting waterline tag. If you fix this, please notify me so we can apply same fix for xta.
Units shaded as dark blue in pictures below are considered as uw (only commander)

Sorry for the late response, I do not browse trac so often....
It affects how units are seen. If a part of the colvol is above water, then units are seen as if they were boats, even though they are meant to be subs. That may not be an issue in BA, but in XTA it's a major issue that e.g. underwater tidals are seen as if they were floating tidals, or that a lurker is spotted by boats without sonar.

I'm not convinced this is actually a problem. As far as I can tell:
(1) The armorclasses control what things can fire at subs and even force firing at the above waterline part of the aimsphere doesn't do significant damage. (2) The colvols are submerged so there is no issue with water surface units colliding with subs.
More info please?
