crash when an unrendered BAR unit becomes rendered

Take a BAR unit which is currently unrendered (might be a radar dot, or might be totally unseen). Walk a unit towards it and at some point that unit gets close enough to cause the previously unseen unit to become rendered. This causes a lua error which crashes spring.
It seems to crash with any BAR unit, but doing the same with a ba7.68 unit does not crash. It does not seem to matter which unit you walk towards with.
The error message I get is "[f=0000693] Error: LuaRules::RunCallIn: error = 2, DrawUnit, [string "LuaRules/Configs/UnitMaterials/1_normalmapp..."]:20: attempt to index local 'trimC' (a nil value)".
