I think this must be an error with rapid - my local version of the BA svn does not give that error (it loads & runs with no errors at all). I guess the BA version which is currently on thorium has somehow been corrupted?
The file armsmoketrail.tga is present in /trunk/bitmaps and loads fine for me both with $version and in an image editor.
