I'm not sure how the UI is meant to cope with a map that has dimensions of 26 x 4

What about putting back informations on bottom and minimap on top, as we usually used to play ?
As far as I'm concerned, I control less the overall situation of the game when minimap on bottom. It is most effective when it is placed in our field of vision, ie the top. All the jauges control widgets are on top, the minimap should be also on top too.
By this, this issue is resolved, the room is enough. What do you think about it ?

The space you're pointing at is already occupied by the chat console. There's more room on the bottom.
